EcoVadis Silver status: Sustainability that makes collaboration easier

Since February 2026, Sommer GmbH's CSR system has been awarded EcoVadis Silver status, placing it among the top 15% worldwide.

For interested parties, this is more than just a "nice medal": it is reliable, external proof that sustainability, compliance and responsible supply chains are managed in a structured manner at Sommer. For existing customers, it is another signal: we are continuing to develop consistently – in a measurable and transparent manner.

Why EcoVadis is relevant for your supply chain

In many industries, sustainability has long been part of supplier evaluation: questionnaires, audits, code of conduct surveys and ESG criteria have become the norm. EcoVadis status provides guidance here because it systematically evaluates and compares sustainability performance. At Sommer, this system has now been confirmed with silver status.

Your advantages in working with Sommer

Less friction in supplier qualification

Anyone who develops or approves suppliers knows the effort involved: documents, self-disclosures, evidence, queries. A recognised sustainability rating reduces precisely these loops because key issues are already addressed in a structured manner and documented externally.

Binding guidelines instead of declarations of intent

Sustainability becomes resilient when it is translated into rules, responsibilities and standards. Sommer has published clear guidelines for this:

  • Human rights guideline: Commitment to respect fundamental human rights based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights and ILO core labour standards.

  • Code of Conduct: Binding framework for legally compliant and ethical conduct as part of the management system.

  • Code of Conduct for Suppliers: Expectations of suppliers and partners, including on the environment, labour and human rights, health and safety, and business ethics.

This is relevant for you because it makes cooperation more predictable – especially when it comes to audits, compliance requirements and international supply chains.

Sustainability as part of corporate governance

Sommer explicitly describes sustainability as an integral part of corporate governance and business processes and refers to binding guidelines that also apply to business partners, where applicable.

Alignment with international standards

Sommer is also a participant in the United Nations Global Compact and is guided by its principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
For many companies, this connectivity is crucial because it facilitates translation into their own compliance and ESG systems.

What this means in practice – especially for technical projects

Whether product labelling, input systems or customer-specific solutions: in technical projects, proof of responsible corporate governance is becoming increasingly important alongside quality and delivery reliability. EcoVadis Silver status is therefore not a "side issue", but an advantage in day-to-day collaboration: faster in evaluation, clearer in expectations, more stable in the supply chain.

Our claim: transparency that can be verified

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. For us, Silver status is a milestone – and at the same time an incentive to further improve processes and make progress visible.
