In the course of digitalisation, many industrial processes have been analysed, reconsidered, further developed and redeveloped for years. These include the handling and transmission of product and manufacturer information using digital type plates. What initially started out as "just" an efficient and sustainable alternative to the classic type plate is increasingly becoming the focus of attention due to the requirements for innovative and digital production processes.

There are two relevant standards that raise the cross-manufacturer standard in terms of acceptance and availability, industry-wide and globally.

The product identification is identified worldwide by a unique URI (Unique Resource Identifier). The identification enables online product documentation to be provided with full access to all information and services relating to the product throughout its entire life cycle.

The image of the URI is DIN SPEC 91406 and its international further development IEC 61406.

The Digital Product Passport (DPP for short) contains the essential product labelling in digital form. This information can be read using smartphones and tablets without the need for an internet connection.

The image of the DPP is VDE V 0170-100, which forms the basis for the upcoming international IEC 63365 standard.

Save almost 20% of costs with the digital nameplate! In our example, a classic type plate, where all the required information is printed, can be significantly reduced in size! Only the most necessary information is printed on the digital twin, the rest goes into the QR code! 105x52mm thus becomes 80x54mm!
